Sims 2 (PC) EA Games
There's no better way to avoid cheek-chucking relatives than
with a fresh copy of Sims 2. Create people and lead them through
the day-to-day of working, playing, eating, sleeping, going
senile, spawning children. Or just sit around and wait for
alien abduction -- the options are endless. With the cool
new graphics and "desire" system, the Sims continues
to be the ultimate escape vehicle.

Katamari Damacy (PS2) Namco
Why are you rolling this ball around? Is it cool to be rolling
people up and shooting them into space at the end of the level?
Who’s the big guy with the crown? Trust us, you won’t
care – you’ll be too busy trying to figure out
if you can get that passing car to stick to your ball.

Missing: Since January (PC) Adventure Company
It's creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky. This highly underrated
mystery game combines live-action video with a variety of
games and puzzles, many of which require online research and

The Urbz (Xbox, PS2, GC) EA Games
The Sims concept decamps the suburbs for the city, adding
more goal-oriented gameplay in the move. Fewer character customization
options than the parent franchise, but we liked being able
to get out of the house and socialize with our peeps.

Probably the slickest game we've played all year. From the
set design to the amazingly detailed characters, it's got
Hollywood blockbuster written all over it. Even better, it's

Halo
2 (Xbox) Microsoft
Did you like the original Halo? That
should give you a pretty clear picture on where
you’ll stand on part two. For girl gamers
who want some blockbuster-movie-style action
in an accessible package, Halo 2 is
hard to beat this holiday season.
Perhaps more exciting than the single-player
game is the new Xbox Live element. Online, Halo
2 plays like a mix between the original
Halo and Unreal Championship.
Add in the Halo vehicles and a bunch
of interesting game types, and the multiplayer
component is almost more addictive than the
single-player game.
