Libe Goad: Co-Founder, Editor
Libe
Goad is a writer and editor with a long track record in websites,
newspapers and magazines.
After serving as the managing editor for a family of prominent
beer, wine and spirits publications, she joined the internet
delivery service Kozmo.com as a content editor in 1999, working
11-hour days and weekends to launch the magazine and music sections
and, most importantly, to run the site's video game section.
After the infamous implosion Kozmo, Libe joined theglobe.com's
Webby-nominated video game web publication, Happy Puppy. As the
site's Editor-at-Large, she managed the website's daily publishing
and wrote reviews and previews, many of which were also featured
in USA Today.
In 2004, Libe signed on as the founding editor of SyncMag.com,
the online counterpart to Sync, the men's consumer lifestyle
magazine from technology publisher Ziff Davis. Later that year,
she moved up to become a Senior Reporter for Ziff Davis, covering
consumer technology for PCmag.com and also took over the video
game section of Sync.
In August 2005, Libe was recruited by AOL to run the editorial
side of their new expanded video game coverage. Additionally,
she has also taken over the video game section of Blender magazine.
Libe holds Journalism and English Literature degrees from Texas
A&M University .
Dan Ackerman: Co-Founder
New York native Dan Ackerman has been a media junkie ever since
he was old enough to reach the remote control. After stints as
a film student and professional radio DJ, he turned to magazine
writing and editing as a career.
Joining online entertainment portal UnderGroundOnline (www.ugo.com)
in 1998, Dan edited videogame site E3.Net before helping launch
UGO's film and music channels. As UGO's Senior Editor, Dan was
part of the team that created the infamous Gary Coleman Webathon
(as seen on 20/20, Good Morning America, Wired and USA Today).
In 2000 he became Editor-in-Chief of Clubplanet, the nation's
leading nightlife resource. Dan built the brand into a major
player in the growing electronic music/club culture scene, leading
to relationships with partners like American Express, Pepsi,
Vindigo, Bacardi, Perrier and Sony Music.
After a brief stint as Chief Content Officer of Live Music Channel,
a producer of live-music-themed television programs and webcasts,
Dan rejoined Clubplanet in
2002, where he launched a new quarterly print magazine and wrote
a year-long nightlife column for the Tribune-owned daily newspaper
amNewYork.
In June 2005, Dan joined leading tech website CNET.com
as a Senior Associate Editor, covering high-end PCs and media
technology.
Dan's other projects include music label Helper
Monkey Records.
He holds a Master's Degree in Media Theory from Fordham University.
