John Woo Options Metroid Film

Legendary Hong Kong director John Woo has optioned the film rights to the classic Metroid game series. Right now, he’s signed on to produce, with an option to direct, the story of our favorite female bounty hunter, Samas Aran.

Look for the film to be a big-budget affair, released worldwide in 2006. Woo has also started a game development company, called Tiger Hill, and they will work on at least three tie-in games for the Metroid film, with Woo contributing to the scripts and cut scene direction.
