EQ2 Servers Sucker-Punched

We’re having a right old time in Everquest II, the next-gen MMO from Sony, but this past weekend saw all the game servers go down for around 24 hours. Panic, of course, ensued.

“We sincerely apologize for the downtime this weekend. We had some hardware issues that caused us to have to tread very carefully in bringing the game back up,” says SOE president John Smedley (also known as Krandar the Gnome on the Highkeep server…no, we kid…).

But Sony peeps posted regular updates on the EQ2players.com forum, assuaging angry half-elves and promising to tack extra time onto everyone’s membership. Last we checked everything was back to normal – well normal for a place with dragons and stuff flying around.
