Sex Toys for Xbox
We've been making jokes about vibrating controllers for what seems like centuries. Now our dreams can be realized. Courtesy of slashdong.com, we have learned about an easy modification that'll turn an Xbox controller into a peripheral of pleasure.
All it takes is a soldering iron, vibrator (we recommend our fave, Toys in Babeland), wire and electrical tape. Follow the instructions on the /dong site and you'll be sitting in a hot seat in no time.

"Final Fantasy" Father Joins Microsoft
Hironobu Sakaguchi, the man responsible for the wildly popular Final Fantasy game series, has jumped onto the Microsoft bandwagon to create two exclusive role-playing games for Xbox numero two. Will the games be as good as Final Fantasy X and X-2? Like any self-respecting game nrds, we can only hope.

Unreal Tournament, Sans Gore
Unreal Tournament is speaking the international language of non-violence.
Epic Games, UT developer, and a group in Califonia have created a violence-free of the notoriously bloody shooter, dubbed the Tactical Language Training System or "Tactical Iraqi." The purpose--to teach U.S. military folk how to talk to Iraqi citizens without causing offense.
The game puts soldiers in various war-time scenarios, i.e. entering a cafe, asking the owner how to secure medical aid to a fellow fallen soldier. The user talks through a headset, and the game analyses accent and voice inflection. Perform poorly, and the on-screen Iraqi turns angry and refuses to help. Speaking correctly and minding the customs allows you to get the help you need.
The simulation is purportedly undergoing limited testing to see if it's fit for full deployment by the year's end.

Microsoft Recalls Xbox Power Cords
Newsflash ladies; Microsoft is recalling Xbox power cords from systems manufactured before October 23, 2003 (before Jan 13, 2004 in Europe). The company dubbed these faulty cords a fire hazard, as some have scorched rugs and left Xbox gamers with a few minor burns.
A estimated 14 million cords need to be recalled and Microsoft will be sending out new ones for free. The Xbox website has detailed instructions on how to return the cord and says it will take an estimated two-to-four weeks before the replacement arrives. What to do until then? Just be sure to turn the console off when not in use (i.e. no more leaving the system on all day if you have yet to reach a save point).
More information on the euphemistic Xbox Replacement Cord Program can be found at http://replacements.webprogram.com/en-us/index.asp.

Second Shot at Second Sight
One of our favorite console games of 2004 is getting a PC port. The psychic power action/adventure Second Sight is out now for PC, and it’s a steal at under $20 (the console versions are available now for the same price).
To promote the game, Codemasters has put up their second “e-toy” online game, which is a pretty neat little flash game where you use your psychic powers to, you know, move stuff around with your mind! (Cue creepy music.)

Xbox 2 in May?
The rumor mill has been buzzing for some time now about the possibility that all three next-next-gen consoles will be at this year’s E3 show in LA. Now various news sources are saying that Xbox 2 is virtually guaranteed to show up at E3, especially after skipping an earlier rumored appearance at the Game Developers Conference.
According to one BBC report, the Microsoft box will be called Xenon, rather than Xbox 2, Xbox Next or any of the other names we’ve heard tossed around. The PlayStation 3 and next-gen Nintendo consoles are also expected to be unveiled at E3.
