Sony Granted Patent for Sensory Transmission

We just can't seem to stop talking about Sony these days. Reuters reported that the entertainment monolith has been granted a patent for transmitting sensory information directly into the brain.

Though Sony reps say the patent is more inspirational than anything, it could mean that the future of gaming might consist of smelling, tasting and touching things in a virtual environment. Fascinating concept, until when the smell of decaying corpses and acrid underground caverns are involved.
